Safety Bench is a network of safety professionals and the firms that hire them, built into Safely Track. Professionals list themselves free and keep their contact details private until they accept an introduction. Hiring firms search by certification, state and availability, and pay a flat monthly subscription. Nobody pays a placement fee. It opens soon, and the waitlist is open now.
Most safety consulting firms we talk to tell the same story about staffing. A client calls on a Thursday. They need a site safety rep on a plant expansion starting the week after next, CHST preferred, for about six weeks. Someone at the firm opens a spreadsheet of contract techs, picks the likely names, and starts calling.
The first three are booked. The fourth doesn't answer. The fifth is free but only holds an OSHA 30, and the client was specific. The sixth moved to Texas. By Monday the firm has someone, usually, and has spent a good part of two days getting there. In-house EHS teams do the same thing when a project needs coverage or someone goes on leave, except they often don't have the spreadsheet.
Why this is a phone-tree problem
The people exist. There are plenty of qualified, independent safety professionals who want contract and travel work. The trouble is that the two pieces of information that matter, who holds what and who is free when, live in people's heads and change every week. A list of names goes stale the moment you save it.
The usual alternatives each miss something. Job boards are built for permanent hires and bury the availability date. LinkedIn tells you someone had a CHST at some point but not whether they're free in November. Staffing agencies solve it, at a markup that comes out of the professional's rate or the client's invoice, and often both.
And the good independents tend to stay quiet on purpose. They don't want their phone number posted for every recruiter in the state. So they wait for a call from someone who already knows them, and the firm that needs them never finds out they exist.
How it works for safety professionals
You fill in one form. No account, no password. You list your headline, years in EHS, certifications, the industries and specialties you work in, your home city and state, whether you'll travel, when you're next available, and the hourly rate range you work for. We email you a private link, and your listing stays hidden until you open it once. That link is also how you update your availability later, hide your listing for a stretch, or remove it.
Firms see your first name and last initial, your credentials and experience, where you're based, when you're free, and a range around your rate rather than the exact number. Your email, phone and LinkedIn stay private. When a firm wants to talk, you get an email with who they are, the role, and their note. You accept and pick which contact details to share, or decline, or block that firm entirely.
It's free for you, and it stays free. We don't take a cut of your rate.
How it works for hiring firms
This side is for in-house EHS teams at contractors and manufacturers as much as it is for consulting and staffing firms. You search the bench by certification, state, industry, contract or full-time, and who is available by the date you need. When someone fits, you request an introduction with the role and a short note. If they accept, their contact details show up in Safely Track and you take it from there.
Sometimes the right person already works for you. So Safety Bench comes with staffing call-outs. You pick the people on your own roster and send one text: who's free Nov 3 to Dec 12 at the Milwaukee job? Each person answers yes, no or partly from a link, without logging in, and the answers land in Assignments with the yeses on top. You still choose who goes where. It just replaces the twenty calls with one message and a sorted list. Call-outs only go to your own people, never to anyone else on the bench.
Certifications on Safety Bench are self-reported today, and firms see them labelled that way. Check credentials before you place someone, the same as you would with a resume.
Why no placement fees
A placement fee puts the platform between the firm and the person, with a reason to keep them apart. Every hire is a toll, so the incentive is to control the relationship. We'd rather make the introduction and get out of the way.
So hiring firms pay one flat monthly subscription, and that's it. Hire one person or ten, keep them for a week or a year, the price doesn't move. The professional keeps their whole rate. The firm knows its cost before the month starts. Firm pricing isn't public yet, so if you're hiring, talk to us about pricing.
Where to start
- If you're a safety professional: join the waitlist and we'll email you the day listings open. It takes a minute, and it's free.
- If you're hiring: join the waitlist as a firm and Thomas will follow up about pricing and timing. If you already use Safely Track for scheduling, call-outs will sit right next to it.
