Short-notice safety coverage still runs on a phone tree.
A shutdown gets moved up. A client adds a second shift. A site safety rep gives notice two weeks into a six-month job. Whoever has to fill the gap starts making calls: the techs who worked the last job, a friend at another firm, a LinkedIn search for "CHST" plus a city name. Half the people don't pick up. Of the ones who do, some are booked, some don't hold the certification the client asked for, and some moved two states away last spring.
Meanwhile the good independent safety people are hard to find on purpose. They don't want their phone number on a job board, and they don't want a recruiter adding a markup to their rate. So they wait for the call from someone who already knows them.
- ✕ A spreadsheet of names, half of them out of date
- ✕ Twenty calls to find out who is free
- ✕ Credentials checked one conversation at a time
- ✕ A recruiter's markup when the list runs dry
- ✓ Professionals keep their own availability current
- ✓ Filter by certification, state and available date
- ✓ Ask for an introduction; they decide what to share
- ✓ A flat monthly price, nothing per hire
Get found for the work you want. Keep your number to yourself.
If you work contract, per diem, travel, or you're open to the right full-time role, Safety Bench puts you in front of the firms looking for someone like you. You don't pay for it, ever, and nobody takes a cut of your rate.
-
Fill in one form
Your headline, years in EHS, certifications (CSP, CHST, OHST, OSHA 500 and 510, competent person cards, HAZWOPER and more), the industries and specialties you work in, your home city and state, whether you travel, when you're next free, and the hourly rate range you work for. No password to make up.
-
Confirm from your email
We email you a private link. Your listing stays hidden until you open it once. After that, the same link is how you update your availability, hide your listing for a while, or remove it.
-
Say yes or no to introductions
When a firm wants to talk, you get an email with who they are, the role, and their note. Accept and pick what to share: email, phone, LinkedIn, or any mix. Decline with a note if you like, or block that firm altogether.
Certifications are self-reported. Rate is shown as a range around Dana's own, not the exact number.
An example listing, as a hiring firm sees it before an introduction.
Search people who said they want the work.
Safety Bench is for anyone who has to put a qualified safety person on a site: in-house EHS teams at contractors and manufacturers covering a project or a leave, and safety consulting and staffing firms filling client requests. It sits inside Safely Track, next to the scheduling you already do there.
-
Search the bench
Filter by certification (a listing has to hold every one you pick), state, industry, contract or full-time, and who is available by a date you choose, or search the text of headlines and summaries. You see first name and last initial, credentials, experience, home base, travel, availability, and a rate range.
-
Ask for an introduction
Add the role and a short note. The professional gets it by email and decides. If they accept, their name and the contact details they chose show up on your Introductions tab, and you take it from there. No middleman, no fee on the hire.
-
Text your own roster first
Sometimes the right person already works for you. A staffing call-out texts the people on your own roster, "who's free Nov 3 to Dec 12 in Milwaukee?", and each person answers yes, no or partly from a link, no login. Answers land in Assignments, sorted with the yeses on top and an Assign button beside each one.
An example call-out. It goes by text, with email as the fallback, and only to your own people.
Not a staffing agency, and not a job board.
We don't recruit, screen or place anyone, and we don't take a percentage of the hire or the rate. Safety Bench makes the introduction. The firm and the professional agree the terms between themselves. Certifications are self-reported today, so check them before you place someone, the same as you would with a resume.
Free to list. One flat price to hire. No placement fees.

What people ask first.
What does Safety Bench cost?
Listing yourself as a safety professional is free, and stays free. Hiring firms pay a flat monthly subscription. There are no placement fees and no cut of anyone's rate.
Do I need an account or a password to list myself?
No. You fill in one form and we email you a private link. That link is how you edit your listing, hide it, or remove it. Your listing stays hidden until you open the link once.
What can a firm see about me before I accept?
Your first name and last initial, your headline and summary, certifications, industries, specializations, city and state, whether you travel, when you're available, and a range around your hourly rate rather than the rate itself. Your email, phone, LinkedIn and full last name stay private until you accept, and you choose which of those to share.
Are certifications verified?
Not yet. Certifications on Safety Bench are self-reported, and firms see them labelled that way. Check credentials before you place someone, the same as you would with any resume.
Who gets a staffing call-out text?
Only the people on your own roster in Safely Track. Call-outs go by text, with email as the fallback, and nobody on the wider bench is contacted. Anyone can reply STOP.
We're an in-house EHS team, not a staffing firm. Is this for us?
Yes. If you cover projects, turnarounds or leaves with contract safety people, you're hiring from the same pool consulting firms are. The subscription and the tools are the same.
